2Wire Modem: Checking / Changing DNS Entries

Open Internet Explorer or your browser of preference. In the Address Bar at the top enter the IP address to get to the internal page of the modem: 192.168.1.254. You will be redirected to the System Summary screen of your modem:

From the tabs across the top click on the Broadband Link to access the View Broadband Link Summary page. Then, select Advanced Settings from the menu below the tabs and above the page title:

Depending on the model of your 2Wire modem, after you click on Advanced Settings you may or may not be asked to enter a password for the modem. If the password is required, you will find yourself at the Enter the Password page. The default password is 2wire.

Once at the Broadband Advanced Settings page, locate the Broadband DNS section on the lower right:

The only area you will need to edit is the Broadband DNS. Check to see what your existing Primary Server and Secondary Server information is, and if necessary, change it. Put your mouse arrow over the box you want to edit and click in the box. Enter the following new Primary Server: 65.19.7.7. The Secondary Server should read 65.19.2.34.When you are done you should have the following entries:

Click on Save in the lower right hand corner to complete your changes. If you are successful, you will be returned to the Broadband Link tab with the View Broadband Link Summary showing.
