Zhone Modem 6212 or 6218: Checking / Changing DNS Entries

Open Internet Explorer or your browser of preference. In the Address Bar at the top enter the IP address to get to the internal page of the modem: 192.168.1.1. You will be redirected toa login window that requires a username and password. Type in admin for the username and admin for the password. Click on OK.

Once logged in, you will find yourself on the Device Info page with a menu on the left. Click on the plus (+) sign next to Advanced Setup to view all the choices. From the drop-down list click on WAN to move to the WAN Setup page.

On the WAN Setup page, click on the Edit button on the right:

At this point there are a couple of seemingly extra pages before you reach the WAN IP Settings page. After clicking on Edit you will find yourself on the ATM PVC Configuration page. Click Next to land on the Connection Type page. Click Next again to finally access the WAN IP Settings page:

Find the Primary DNS server and the Secondary DNS server listings toward the bottom. They should read 65.19.7.7 and 65.19.2.34 respectively. To change one or both, put your curser in the appropriate box and type in the correct number. When done, your numbers should be as follows:

When the numbers are right, click on Next to continue on to the Network Address Translation Settings page. Clicking on Next again will move you to the WAN Setup Summary where you finally have the opportunity to hit the Save button!

You are not quite done. Clicking on the Save button takes you back to the WAN Setup page where you must click Finish to complete the process:
