VoIP offers a number of advantages. It is less expensive than a traditional phone line and generally includes a large amount of free long distance within the United States and Canada. Because it is a fairly new service, not all of the telecom taxes and surcharges apply, providing you with an even greater savings.
There IS a hidden cost in a way. You must have a broadband Internet connection to carry the VoIP. The broadband connection could be DSL, Enterprise Internet, Fixed Wireless or a T1. We are happy to offer high-quality VoIP, but we can only guarantee the quality if you are on our broadband network.
Happily, you can keep your current phone number and your existing telephones. There is now a gizmo that allows your analog phone to accept the digital signal. On the other hand, if you want new phones, you can purchase VoIP (digital) handsets.
