This prediction of the future of George W. Bush’s presidency is presented for entertainment value, not because it won’t be true, but because it’s fun to predict the future using Vedic Astrology, and it’s fun to read about. It’s also interesting (not to mention good practice) to predict what might happen with this system, since it’s been right about so many other things. Also, so that even those not familiar with Astrology can read this, a minimum of technical detail has been included. (Note to Astrologers: technically, this is a blend of Vedic Astrology and the use of outer planets; Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.)

Before I start, let me state that I am NOT anti-Bush, or pro-Bush, either one. This article would be written exactly the same for Al Gore if he were up for inauguration now.

The figure below is a "snapshot" of the planets on the day of George Bush’s inauguration, 12 PM EST, when he is scheduled to officially accept his office and give an inaugural speech. To avoid confusion and cluttered graphics, only Mars is shown; primarily because its position is the most noteworthy.

The sky over Washington D.C. when George W. Bush will take the oath and officially become President.

Of course, what stands out about this "snapshot" is Mars so closely aligned with the horizon. Mars on a sensitive point such as the east or west horizons, or at its highest astrological point (midheaven) or lowest (nadir), usually means aggression, and sometimes war.

In the past when Mars was on an angle for a presidential term, we had the Mexican-American war, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II (the end of it), Reagan’s aggressive stance in the 80’s and the defense industry build-up, even the Gulf War.

Therefore, here is prediction # 1:

George W. Bush’s administration will probably be aggressive toward other countries, and may provoke or be involved in, war with a foreign power. Or, he may simply use aggressive foreign policy, and build up the defense department. His foreign policy will probably be successful, though too aggressive.

Mars on the Western horizon is in an adversarial position with respect to this administration’s reputation, effectiveness and power. It’s a good placement for Mars, though, so it’s not all bad. There are negative effects from Saturn as well. Therefore, here is prediction # 2:

George W. Bush’s administration will suffer from public opposition, obstacles, and difficulties. His administration will probably be respected, but not loved. The administration will attack its obstacles effectively, but does so with too self-centered a focus, and therefore may offend too many people or do less good for America as a whole. Thus, this administration will make a lot more obstacles for itself and be less effective as a result; will even generate hostile opposition to its policies.

Talk of militantly "demonstrating against" George Bush’s inauguration, and potent opposition to those he selected for his cabinet, is evidence that opposition to his administration is already taking place. Mars here indicates that some kind of opposition expressed at or during his inauguration ceremony is likely.

The next item of interest is the Vedic houses of "luck." These are not well represented; especially the 9th house. This has to do with the ease and ability with which the administration can find solutions to problems. Thus, prediction # 3:

George W. Bush’s administration will have a lot of obstacles to contend with when trying to solve problems. Solutions will not come easy and many obstacles will be put in their path. Though the stars bode well for this administration’s effectiveness in getting around problems, it nevertheless will require a lot of effort, and will hamper their attempts to reach the goals they set.

This already appears to be the case, because of a divided White House (in terms of equal or near equal representation of Republicans and Democrats), and a divided American public, many of whom wanted Al Gore to be president, and who ardently oppose George W. Bush’s selection of cabinet members.

The appeal of George W. Bush to the American public is best symbolized by the Moon, thought to represent the "masses" in Vedic Astrology; i.e. humanity in general. The Moon is badly placed in Scorpio, the worst possible sign. It is close to the planet Pluto, a harsh, power-seeking, and possibly corrupt influence. There are some mitigating influences from Jupiter and Venus, but these aren’t strong. Therefore, this leads to prediction # 4:

George W. Bush’s administration may make decisions that are very unpopular with the American public. The public could perceive his administration to be selfish, power-hungry and too far removed from the concerns of the "common man." Bush may also be perceived as ruthless or heartless (Pluto), and pro "big business" at the expense of too much else. His geniality and charm will ease some of the dissatisfaction against his administration, but not eliminate it.

John F. Kennedy, on the other hand, had a tremendous configuration for popularity with the public. Though his policies were often hotly debated, he was nevertheless loved by the public, and still is. Johnson, on the other hand, had the misfortune to be inaugurated when a very bad configuration for public popularity was in place. As anyone knows who lived through that time, his administration’s decisions were often hated by the public.

Do the stars "control" the popularity of a president? No, but I do see that these configurations seem to coincide with administrations that make unpopular decisions; i.e. administrations that are out of step with what the public wants or needs. And that was true of Johnson’s administration in the 1960’s. Though the same appears to be true of the George W. Bush administration, I don’t think his administration will be hated the way Johnson’s was. Based on the intercession of two good planets (Venus and Jupiter), it’s likely that George W. Bush will compromise and make some effort to do what the public wants. However, it looks to me that this will not "be enough" to make up for the dissatisfaction felt over his policies, and his administration will actually be disliked and resented on that account.

Is there anything on a more positive note regarding the George W. Bush administration? Yes, there is. Venus is well placed in the "aspirations and goals" house, and is associated with the house of money, and money in general. Jupiter is placed in the "house of money" also, and therefore benefits that house. Thus, prediction # 5:

George W. Bush’s administration may assist America financially, or be successful with money issues and budget problems. His administration may boost the economy or create more jobs, or at least deal with financial crises effectively. America could be more prosperous financially under his administration, though the road he takes to get there may not be a good one, based on other factors.

Moving on to the next item, George W. Bush’s administration has the "desire" placements well represented, which simply means that his administration will probably get what it wants. Thus, prediction # 6:

George W. Bush’s administration will probably attain its goals. This could be good or bad for the American public, depending upon whether the goals and aspirations of the George W. Bush administration serve the common good.

Finally there is the last prediction, which has to do with "good works." In Vedic Astrology, there are planetary placements that deal with doing good works, and these indicate how likely it is for a person to do "good" for society, or "bad." Indications for the George W. Bush administration are a mixture of good and bad. This leads to prediction # 7:

George W. Bush’s administration will succeed in attaining its goals, and some of these goals will benefit American society at large; especially financially. But though the economy and other aspects of financial life in America may work out, the road to that goal may not be one the American public wants to follow. Some of his administration’s goals will probably be far too self-serving to be good for America as a whole, especially the "common man." Corporations will probably benefit the most.

George W. Bush’s administration looks to be a challenging one, for him and the American public. At least it looks like America will come out on top of financial problems, if any arise.
