Time for 2009

Message from the President

These are certainly difficult times and the experts are saying that it may be awhile before we hit bottom. There is solace, however, when we know that some of the things we appreciate the most are still there and still very affordable like Renesan. People are delaying or simply dropping discretionary spending, but many of our members don't view Renesan as discretionary nor should they. Where else in the Santa Fe area can you get so much entertainment and knowledge for so little? Where else can you get a membership for just $20 a year and pay $7 per 2 hour class or lecture session? Since we moved to St John's over 5 years ago our dues and class fees have stayed the same and our lecture fees have only increased by $2. I can also tell you there are no plans to increase any of our fees in the foreseeable future. So, in these troubled times, you can rely on us to keep this great deal going and to keep providing the best classes, lectures and trips we can. And, thank goodness we live in Santa Fe where all this is possible.

On a different topic, many of us have noticed an increase in tardiness for our big classes and lectures. This is disruptive for the speaker and the people in the room. I ask you to join me in putting more effort into arriving at Renesan events on time. And, if you can't avoid being late then please join the session with a minimum disruption.

Happy Holidays and a safe 2009. We look forward to seeing you during our Spring semester.

Ron Mandelbaum, Board President

Call for Volunteers!

Renesan is a volunteer organization. The classes, lectures, and trips offered each semester come about only through the efforts of our many volunteers. Please consider further participation in Renesan by becoming a volunteer! Volunteers are needed for classroom setup and take down, collecting fees at each lecture, operating audio-visual equipment, general office help, database input and maintenance, and to help produce our catalog. To volunteer, you may call the Renesan office at 982-9274 or return the Volunteer Form available in the Forms section of this website.
